Leafly

By shaping a user-friendly interface and engaging content, I helped Leafly empower over 100 million cannabis consumers globally, providing them with essential information and tools to explore and utilize over 5,000 strains.
My design work at Leafly focused on simplifying the complex world of cannabis. Through innovative UX/UI solutions, I bridged the gap between medical and recreational usage, making it easier for users to navigate the diverse landscape of cannabis products.

The Leafly Brand: Divergent, approachable, and dynamic
How does one make a cannabis strain review platform stand out in 2010? Back then the prevalent design trend was predictable: ubiquitous pot leaves, a green and black color scheme, weed puns for company names and pot leaves everywhere. So, for Leafly, setting a new standard was key. By leveraging the fundamental botanical classifications—Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid—each was assigned a distinct color, mapping a visual identity inspired by the periodic table.
The result was the ‘Tres Colores,’ a trio of tiles symbolizing Leafly’s core categories. For the company name and word mark, using the Avenir Next Rounded typeface, seemed to strike a professional balance while maintaining approachability, encapsulating Leafly's consumer-friendly ethos in the cannabis technology space.
